Here at YKK Snap Fasteners America, we close the cap onto the prong ring to form the capped prong ring. We close the collet around the pearl to form the pearl inserted prong ring. The capped prong ring, the inserted pearl prong ring, the open prong ring, the nylon capped prong ring, and the rubber capped prong ring are the items which can be placed on the outer surface of the garment for that perfect look!

Any of these may be attached to a socket (segmented socket shown).

The result of this attachment process is called a socket assembly (shown with a prong ring).

A stud assembly snaps into the socket assembly. There are two varieties of stud assemblies, as shown below.

Ring Attached Stud Assembly
(W-Stud Assembly)

(T-Stud Assembly)

The W-stud assembly is formed of a W-stud and a prong ring. The T-stud assembly is formed of a T-stud and a post.

Note: for special applications requiring a reversible design, a W-stud should be used. By attaching the W-stud with the same component used to attach the socket, both the garment and the reversed garment can present an identical look. This is not the only option. Using a capped prong ring to attach the socket and a pearl inserted ring to attach the stud (for example) makes it easy to design a garment that goes from tough to glam with a simple reversal!
