Nylon collets can not be used for open top buttons. In an open top button, the tip of the tack is visible at the bottom of the well.

Nylon collet buttons differ in that the shank of the button is nylon, rather than metal. This design decision saves money in both manufacturing and shipping.

Nylon collet buttons are attached to the garment using the 14 ligne threaded tack. This tack is available in two lengths, .300 inch and .335 inch. The .300 inch tack is typically employed with a 22 ligne button, and the .335 inch tack is typically employed with a 27 ligne button. Which tack to use with a 24 ligne button depends on garment construction, and thickness of the fabric in the application area.

Swivel collet buttons and single tack metal collet buttons are attached with the 14 ligne aluminum pinch point tack.

The swivel top action is available only in buttons attached with the pinch point tack. But any of these designs can also be made using our 2-prong fastener.
